Dalyan Turkey

 May 4-7, 2026

Greetings from Dalyan, home to the Kaunos ruins and to wild donkeys, this one peering out of mens room

view of coast, the rugged mountains are magnets for me & then they drop into the sea

view of the coast's rugged mountains
turtle hospital, we learned lots!  Most hit with boats and have skull fractures

Morning walk:
there are many tractors on the road, but I hadn't seen a tractor towing a tractor until this morning
Fertile soil, the orchard is alternating orange and pomegranate trees; smells heavenly
suburban blooms
city park mosque, the prayers echo in a melodic way
Lycian tombs
The tombs are what attracted me to Dalyan as a destination.  I found that the Lindos Pension
or Pansiyon offered rooms with balconies with this view.
tombs are lit at night, my phone doesn't do them justice

We took a ferry across the river for about a minute ride for fifty cents, then walked to the Kaunos ruins.

grilled eggplant at Duble

2nd meal Duble: salad, lamb casserole. We had sea bass with the eggplant last night
This is the first destination in Turkey where food and drink prices are less than home

While I got a body treatment by chiropractor, PT, + many other trainings, John got a haircut.
Gold hand therapy

there are many cats in Turkish cities, sad because it's also a primary  migratory path for birds
In Dalyan, there are scheduled feedings. Animals know and gather
