Kekova boat trip, Kaş Turkey 4-30-26

April 30, 2026  Because it's low season, we had to wait until they could round up 6 passengers. This took a couple days. The bus ride on the winding roads wasn't a good start to my day, so instead we drove 40 min to Üçağiz Village to catch our boat, the Domino.    picture perfect day  Aquarium Bay--too chilly & breezy for us to swim Aquarium Bay, too breezy and cool for us to swim   Shipyard Bay, where historical ruins from Ancient Roman Byzantine ruins still stand was the first place we swam. It was a unique feeling to swim over building ruins from Roman times.       Roman ruins  Byzantine ruins Know how to tell the difference? Byzantine fit together without mortar!    Next stop Kekova island underwater ruins, no swimming, it's protected.   aqueduct runs into the water today   the vertical tube is remnants of chimney   Ruins above and below the turquoise waters   Cave that doesn't allo...

Day 3 driving from Cappadoc Egirdir to Döşemealti outside Anatalya includes Sagalassos

April 25, 2026    The reason we chose to drive from Cappadocia to Kas was to see two Archeological Sites: Sagalassos  and Termessos . Happy we did, both are very special places. Because we drove, we have seen so much more and meeting friendly & kind people along our way than if we have flown to Kaş. After yesterday's mistake of not having food for too long, we stopped in Isparta to try Boreck. Google Maps sent us on an interesting journey in the Otomotiv (automotive) zone without success for breakfast.  It is like India in that like businesses are clustered.  We found a place with Borek in their name, but they didn't serve.  We headed to another and we enjoyed an unforgettable cultural experience.  We used Googe translate sparingly and guessed using body language. We watched Katmer although she didn't pronounce it anywhere close to what we saw on their window  What an unforgettable cultural experience. Chose th...

Morning walks Kaş, Turkey

Image
April 2026 Note: I'm going to add regularly to this since we're here for a week    Spring here is not as exuberant as we experienced in Cappadocia and along our drive to Kaş.  However, walk provide an abundance of discovery.      cars I've never seen     I walked upon a farmers market early Thus AM and this woman was so kind, communicating greetings by blinking/holding her eyes closed a bit longer.  And her smile!  She also opened an orange that had red inside and was the sweetest ever.      early morning light on mosque  Turkish flags are everywhere! I don't recall every seeing this density in the US fire station     Spurge Hawk-moth   cemetery    I learn from sign. Here in Turkey, it's paket, not to go or take away. I also learned that paket servis is delivery.
