Birthday/May 3/ Last day in Kaş

 


 May 3, 2026

Rain predicted for a lot of today. We walked to the Hamur Bakery when it opened at 8, but due to power outage earlier this morning, the bread was still rising and they would open in 2-3 hours time

 
 Later I returned and got warm sourdough mini pizzas made with different ingredients, cookies and the gave me a brownie because it's my birthday!  We got rained on a little on our return 10 min walk on very steep hills.

When the sun came out and the roads dried up with headed down the beach--it was too cold and windy. So we drove further south and found a trailhead. I enjoyed the vistas and flowers. 

 

 
 
 

 
 
Then  we spotted this scary looking funnel
 
so we turned around and returned to the car in sprinkles 
 
stopped at store for veggies to make a salad and afterwards, saw a farmers market. Stopped and bought oranges and strawberries. 
 
 
Now it's pouring rain and we have enough delicious food for both lunch and dinner.

Wolwal Village, Alor Island Indonesia.

   About 40 min from Kahabali, the village of Wolwal is a lively walk in the morning from the Alami Resort.  Not only did I have dogs run and bark at me, but also a goat!  The dog was concerningly aggressive and fortunately, a woman saw my distress and picked up a rock and shooed the dog away. I had another incident with a dog and all I had to do was pick up a rock and it put it's tail between it's legs and returned to it's home property.   Interacting with the villagers when we didn't share a same language was a memorable experience.  For example the young boy under the billboard was looking like he was having a bad day. I gestured to ask if I could snap a photo. He was agreeable and when I showed him his photo, he was beaming.   I also had a family approach me with their phone to take my photo.  Then I did a selfie with them. Everyone was joyful. I asked her to show her name so I could write a review. These photos make me smile and trigger happy, satisfied memories. Kupang   is the capital of the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara.
