Sydney Australia Zoo experience at Taronga Wildlife Reserve June 2025
What a welcoming front desk! Sets the stage for a wonderful visit. Our room is bush side and we arrived as the kangaroos were being fed outside our window. Then a laughing kookaburra stopped by for a sip of water outside our side window. Action packed start that just continued. We scheduled a tour within the hotel complex at 3pm. Echidna’s waddled across our path making photography super easy.
The color difference indicates whether they are from the north or south parts of Australia.
Our guide Jacinta was very knowledgeable. I asked her about a cool seed pod and she didn’t know so she looked it up and tracked us down to tell us all about the Snake Vine.
Free cocktail coupon was offered to us at checkin so we imbibed delicious $26 Aus/17US. Mosman Fashioned , that’s the city we’re in, had Buffalo Trace Bourbon, wattle seed, local orange bitters.
Enjoyed sunset with pizza looking over the harbor to downtown Sydney.
We had another tour after dark. The red light allowed us to see tigers, red pandas and capybaras. In the early morning we saw red kangaroos silhouettes hopping in front of our window with the beginnings of light.
The following morning we took the early morning tour offered to hotel guests before the zoo opened
. The dingos howled and ran around like crazy because their zoo keeper walked by.
I wish I could play you the recording of the Superb Lyrebird whose calls mimicked a fire alarm and then the announcer informing everyone what to do and where to go. It was incredible!
The highlight of the zoos during zoo hours was the silverback gorilla
