Undersea life Snorkeling Alor Island, Indonesia

We chose Alami Alor resort because they also catered to snorkelers and we weren't sitting in a boat with scuba divers while they waited their hour between dives when we could be frolicking in the corals. We chose our visit to maximize our chances of seeing Blue Whale and the Mola-Mola with the new moon in late June 2025. An unexpected surprise was the many new and unusual fish. Ado is a superb guide with vast knowledge of names and habitats to share these remarkable fish.

Crocodile fish, 2nd time our guide has spotted one. Funny story how it happpened. Ado called us to see a manta shrimp. John arrives swims over the shrimp and pops up and says “cool leaf fish!” We missed that debris looking fish just a foot away. So while we snap photos of both, our guide spots this crocodile fish a foot from the shrimp in the other direction. Before this, John commented that is was a slow day we had seen much
