It’s not picture perfect all over the island, all the time so it’s best to consult Purple Air that provides real time air measurements around the entire island. https://www.purpleair.com/map?&zoom=9&lat=19.815527505170323&lng=154.94598183598066&clustersize=33&orderby=L&latr=1.2185727284505852&lngr=2.4785156920552254 Hawaii is huge so it’s easy to do many things and avoid Pele’s petulant behavior. Preparing for International Travel

Months in advance determine if a visa is required and update immunizations Download Google Maps for offline use Download Maps.me for offline use Download Google Translate language for offline use Check for correct adaptors.   https://toomanyadapters.com Check Airline baggage requirements-be ready to shift stuff if they weigh your carryon. If you weigh in advance, have a plan ready to meet the requirements. I look when I’m in line to learn how strict they are for this flight. Phone/Data Plans Decide if you want a sim card for your unlocked phone, or activate international options via your carrier. If you’re over 55, consider T-Mobile’s Unlimited 55+ plan that provides unlimited texts and slow data in over 140 countries for $70/month two people. (works well in US too)   If you have a car rental, read about whether border crossing are permitted.

In April 2016 we quit our jobs in India and purchased a one-way ticket to Paris.  Sounds so much better than we’re unemployed and homeless.  Thus begins our odyssey.  India was our first overseas posting and it was overwhelming.  However, nowhere we’ve been since has challenged our ability to adapt. Culturally curious, physically fit for our age, we decided why not now?
